Fine Artists Plein Air Painting Escape, to benefit the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.

The East Beach Circle of the King’s Daughters is one of many volunteer groups who raise money for the Children’s Hospital. The East Beach Circle will host its largest fundraiser, Barefoot on the Bay, on Saturday, June 11. As part of its efforts to help fund a mobile transportation unit for the Hospital, the Circle will be auctioning paintings of East Beach during the event. Thus, the East Beach Fine Artists Plein Air Painting Escape is the mechanism that we hope will provide the paintings for the auction.
Friday, April 22: Travel to East Beach, Scout Locations, Welcome Dinner Party
For those traveling, it is about an 8 hour drive from Warwick, New York to East Beach or a quick direct flight from Newark to Norfolk International (ORF). It is about a 4-1/2 hour drive from Wilmington to East Beach. All visiting and local artists are invited to a welcome party and cookout on Friday evening, April 22, at the home of Monica and Bruce Johnson in East Beach.
Out of town guests will be provided complimentary accommodations in the homes and/or carriage houses of our Circle members.
Saturday, April 23 – Sunday, April 24: Painting Days
You’ll paint when you like and enjoy your time at East Beach when you’re not. The Farmer’s Market will be in session on Saturday morning; there are tennis courts; lots of places to walk; lunch at the Market, East Beach Sandwich Company, Cutty’s or Mac’s Place (for some local flavor and great steamed shrimp), the Lagoon, or walk just a couple of blocks to Captain Groovy’s. In the evening, catch the sunset on the beach or plan a dinner with friends. There is a wonderful fire pit and Adirondack chairs in one of the East Beach pocket parks – perfect for relaxation and conversation.
Sunday, April 24: Painting Day and Artist Thank You Reception
On Sunday evening, all artists and Circle members are welcome to enjoy adult beverages and refreshments at an Artist Thank You Reception. (Location to be determined.) If you have paintings you have created during your stay that you want to offer for sale, this would be a perfect time to showcase your work. (Don’t forget that one painting per artist is reserved as a donation for the Barefoot on the Beach event. Thank you, thank you, thank you!)
